Does Vietnam visa waiver mean everything to the frequent traveler?

Any foreigners who enter Vietnam and are unilaterally granted visa free entry must have a passport valid for at least 6 months, and the entry date must be at least 30 days from the previous exit. Visa waiver is not actually the right choice for those who travel Vietnam frequently.

Thank to the Vietnam immigration policies, more visa waiver has been updated recently. Accordingly, the citizens of five (05) European countries including: Germany, France, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom can travel Vietnam without visa within 15 days, from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. However, does visa waiver mean everything to those who travel Vietnam frequently? The answer is “not actually!”.

As you know, from January 1st 2015, the Law on entry, exit and residence of foreigner in Vietnam has come into effect with many change including Vietnam visa exemption field. According to the Article 20 of the Law No. 47/2014/QH13 any foreigners who enter Vietnam and are unilaterally granted visa free entry must have a passport valid for at least 6 months, and the entry date must be at least 30 days from the previous exit. Visa waiver citizens wishing to re-enter Vietnam within 30 days from the previous exit must apply for Vietnam visa for their return.

Obviously, for those who travel Vietnam frequently, it is a way to save the visa fee for the FIRST entry only. In order to take advantage of a second visa exempt entry, they must wait for 30 days from the previous entry. It is not very helpful in case you travel Vietnam very often and you are not sure about the gap between 2 entries, it might be 35 days or even 5 days.

In this case, 3 month multiple entry visa is your SECOND and right choice. The first choice is to enter Vietnam with visa waiver option and from the 2nd entries onward, you can get the 3 month multiple entry visa easily. With the 3 month multiple entry visa, you don’t worry about how many time you enter or exit Vietnam; how many day between 2 entries you have to wait. Just get the visa approval letter, print it out, bring with your valid passport and obtain visa at arrival airport.
Amazing simple process!
